Selectmen Minutes
April 19, 2022
Present: Chet, Bowles, Gary Backstrom, Diane Callahan,
Call to order by Chet Bowles at 5:30 pm.
Motion to approve payroll and manifest for 4/19/2022 (Bowles/Backstrom). All in favor, motion carried.
Motion to approve the minutes of 4/5/2022 (Bowles/Backstrom). All in favor, motion carried.
Andy Peterson, Realtor, introduced Anthony Sabatino, the new owner of the Sharon Arts Center property. Mr. Peterson spoke about the deterioration of the property due to lack of use and maintenance. Mr. Peterson stated that Mr. Sabatino’s intentions were to use the building for educational and office space with the possibility of renting the house to a family. Mr. Sabatino spoke about how he would like to keep the property as some type of school. He would like to rehab the house, replace the roof, windows, siding, and freshen up the interior. Mr. Sabatino has a family interested in renting it as a residence. Mr. Bowles stated that he had been contacted by someone who had asked about the kiln on the property. There was a brief discussion regarding the kiln. Mr. Bowles informed Mr. Sabatino that Sharon is rural residential and he would need to apply to the Zoning Board for permission to run a business, leasing the house would be allowed. There was discussion about having the septic checked out and some of the natural features of the property.
Signed a timber tax warrant for the Society for the Protection of NH Forests.

Mr. Bowles, as Chair, signed the 2022 1st quarter 941 payroll tax return.
Sandy Eneguess:
Trees on Jarmany Hill Road have been taken care of.
Saved the Class VI roads by closing the gates for the winter.
Paving material has gone up by $10/ton. The paving for McCoy Road and Temple Road can be done for $99,925.00. Eneguess will pave to 182 McCoy Road, from the culvert to the bridge. Motion to approve the Brox paving contract for $99,925.00 (Bowles/Backstrom). All in favor, motion carried.
The Town Administrator spoke to the Board about purchasing pre-stamped #10 envelopes from the Post Office. Window envelopes and regular envelopes can be purchased and the stamps are forever stamps. This would eliminate the need to purchase stamps and have the town reimburse people. The Board approved the purchase.
Mr. Bowles:
The Town Clerk position may be open and the town may need to find a new Town Clerk.
Resignation received from the Emergency Management Director and the Deputy Emergency Management Director. Move to accept both resignations with gratitude for the work done (Bowles/Callahan). Bowles and Callahan – yea, Backstrom – abstained.
Resignation received from the Meeting House Sexton. Motion to accept the resignation of the Meeting House Sexton with gratitude (Bowles/Backstrom). All in favor, motion carried.
If anyone knows of someone who may be interested in any of these positions please let the Board know.
The MS-9 report for the Trustees of the Trust Funds has been accepted by the State.
Scott Brown has contacted Bill Joyner, Chair of the Planning Board, and wishes to continue on the Planning Board.
The Tax Collector spoke to an NHMA attorney during her spring workshop about the VonAdler estate. While the town cannot do anything because this estate is “intestate”. The attorney suggested that the town look into filing a petition with the probate court. Mr. Bowles will contact Attorney Runyon and discuss this idea with him.
Gina Goff:
Asked if the Board has found anyone to work on the upper gate of the Jarmany Hill Road Cemetery, the response was not at this time.
Checked into putting the cemeteries on the historical register, there are no restrictions. Motion to authorize Gina Goff to apply to put the cemeteries on the State Historic Register (Callahan/Bowles). All in favor, motion carried.
