Outside burning of brush - It is illegal to burn brush in town without obtaining a written burning permit from town Fire Warden Ken Callahan (924-3726). With the likelihood of a drought this year, outdoor burning will be limited to days immediately following prolonged rains, when grounds and foliage are still damp. With a written burning permit, fires are to be started after 5PM, and must be completely extinguished by 7AM the next morning..

Town residents starting fires with out a written permit from the fire warden are responsible for the cost of extinguishing any fire. Sharon residents initiating brush fires are also liable for costs of any fire damage to neighboring properties.

Use of Recreational Vehicles - Per state regulation RSA 215-A:6, it is illegal to operate motorized recreational vehicles (snow mobiles, motorized off-road bikes, or ATV's), on any state or town road. This includes the various seasonal roads in town that may be gated.

It is also illegal to operate such vehicles on private property without the express permission of the property's owner. Additionally it is illegal to operate any motorized vehicle in town forests, without the express permission of the town selectmen.

Traffic speed enforcement - A reminder to all residents the Town of Peterborough will begin patrolling town roads and providing police and emergency response this summer. Any speeding infraction 10 mph over the posted speed limit will result in a traffic ticket.
